Bamboo shoot cultivation in Taiwan
[Local name] Oldham bamboo in English
Clump forming, almost cultivated in the subtropical regions.
6-12m in culm height and 3-12cm in diameter, really green color as called green bamboo in Chinese.
Somewhat short internodes, nodes slightly swollen.
In Taiwan this species is very important to cultivate bamboo shoots.
It is well known to be very delicious.
Recently, this bamboo has been introduced to southern Japan and I planted it at Kyoto Rakusai Bamboo Park in 2000, but worry how it can survive.
