Kyoto Rakusai Bamboo Park
"Kuro" means "black" and "chiku" means "bamboo", because "Kuro-chiku" is black bamboo.
It is true, really a black bamboo.

Size is just middle as 2-3cm in diameter, 3-5m in height.

The color of new culm just after culm sheath fell out in spring, is green.
Because, the color is gradually changing to black from green in and after winter into next year.
After second year, the color completely changes to black.

As its size is slender and fraceful, it is planted as ornamental in gardens and parks.

This is widly used for producing bamboo fences, decoration for windows, hanging scrolls and others.
