"Hachiku" means a light colored bamboo. One of three important species in Japan. The size is 8-10cm in diameter and 18-20m in height. This can be seen like a white culm, especially in new culm. Because younger culms are covered with white powder. Hardy, so it can grow near Sapporo, where is 7.6 degrees centigrade in annual mean temperature.
