"Shibo" means wrinkles.

One of mutation types of Phyllostachys bambusoides, several deep wrinkles appear on the surface of culm.
When stroking the surface, its rarity should be felt.

Nodes are little bit swelling and culm color is rather deep green.
Culm wall is slightly thicker than that of Phy. bambusoides

As rare surface, culm can be used for making flower pots and goods for tea ceremony.

As one concerned mutation type, there is so-called "Katashibo", that wrinkles appear alternately by each node, because of appearing at only one side alternately.
This is Phy. bambusoides form Katashibo Muroi, which grows at Tatsuno City, Hyogo Prefecture and designated to be Natural Monument by Japan.
