Ya-dake
@@Pseudosasa japonica Makino

Kyoto Rakusai Bamboo Park
"Ya" means an arrow, because this species is used for making an arrow in Japan from old time.
Of course, an arrow for using as military arts is still produced by this species at present.

Culm is really straight and 3-5m high and round then slightly longer in internode.
Only one branch is born from a node.
Culm sheath is very long because the part watched in culm is a little.

It is said that this species was secretly planted at the yard of Samurai's home in old time.
But at present, it is widely planted as ornamental plantation because of admiring its beautiful shape of culm.

The culm is used for making not only arrow, but holder of writing brushes, fishing lods, window's frames, and so on.
