Kyoto Rakusai Bamboo Park "To" is the Japane name of old Chinese era, which was in the five to seven centuries.
According to Dr. S. Suzuki, it is said to be China in origin.

Height is 5-18m and 1-6cm in diamete and very high growth can be seen under fertile soil.
Internode length reaches to 60`80cm, that is the longest in bamboo species growing in Japan.

Nodes strongly prominent, long black or brown hairs appear.
More than 3 branches appear from node, and the shape of branches can be changes to be just like a tassel by strong pruning.
So that, this speceis is the most popular ornamental bamboo and widely planted at warm regions in Japan.
